Sub Jr Quarter finals tomorrow

Lucknow, Jan 29 (UNI) The quarter final matches of the All India K D Singh Babu sub junior invitation hockey tournament will be played at the Dhyan Chand Stadium here tomorrow.

Both UP Red and Blue reached the quarterfinals of the tournament.

In the quarter finals, Chhattisgarh will play against Orissa, Batala (Punjab) will clash with Haryana, Roop Nagar against Uttar Pradesh (Blue) and Uttar Pradesh (Red) versus West Bengal.

Though, UP Blue had lost battle against Batala team 4-1, they sailed into the quarter-finals by virtue of their points tally.

In the last league matches today, Andhra Pradesh lost to Haryana 0-1, Manipur trounced Tamil Nadu 5-1, Batala beat U P Blue 4-1 and Roop Nagar defeated Rajasthan 7-0.

Batala's Harminder drew the first blood of UP Blue in the 9th minute through a field goal (1-0) then lead was consolidated by Love Preet (2-0).

For the winners, Harminder struck two more goals making the tally 4-0. The only consolation for U P lads came in the last minutes of the game and the solitary goal was hit by Ravi reducing the margin (1-4).

In the Haryana-Andhra Pradesh match, the only goal scored during the match came through the stick of Jitender. The first half of the game remained goalless.

Manipur, after leading 3-0 at half time over Tamil Nadu, registered a 5-1 victory.
