New Delhi, Apr 17 (UNI) The second Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee Memorial All India Open International Rating Chess Tournament is heading for an exciting finish as a pack of seven players are leading the table with eight points after penultimate round matches.
Overnight leader, International Master (IM) Himanshu Sharma tried hard to find a winning combination on the top board against Sudhir Kumar Sinha, but after a marathon 125 moves, he had to be satisfied with half a point.
Playing safe, other leaders IM P Konguvel and Rahul Sangma signed the peace treaty after 29 moves.
These two top board results helped J Venkata Ramana, D P Singh and Akash Thakur to catch up with the leaders with outright wins against their rivals B S Shivananda, Anup Deshkukh and G B Joshi respectively.
