“A Goal In My Life” – Superbon Seeks Two-Sport Supremacy With Win Over Jo Nattawut At ONE Friday Fights 81

By Mike Joseph

ONE Interim Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon has dreams of holding belts in two sports. And if he has a strong showing against Jo Nattawut this Friday, 27 September, he believes he'll take one step closer to that goal.

Superbon - who's also the #1-ranked featherweight Muay Thai contender - headlines this week's ONE Friday Fights 81 mega event against #2-ranked featherweight Muay Thai contender Nattawut inside Bangkok, Thailand's Lumpinee Stadium.

The Thai has been in great form heading into the contest, but he knows he'll have to do more than just win to get another crack at ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai in the future.

"If I can win this fight impressively, I'm pretty sure that I'll get a shot for the Muay Thai World Title," Superbon said. "Being a two-sport World Champion is a goal in my life. For me, a goal in life is something that we have to achieve at all costs."

Across 151 professional bouts, there aren't many names that Superbon hasn't crossed paths with. But somehow his fellow compatriot Nattawut is one of them. Nattawut has been on a resurgence since giving Tawanchai a run for his money on two occasions, and Superbon has taken note.

Of the two strikers, many would agree that Superbon is the more reserved and calculated athlete, while Nattawut comes forward guns blazing. He showed this twice against Tawanchai and once in a barnburner victory over Luke Lessei at ONE Fight Night 17.

While Nattawut has shown that he has the power to trade with the opposition, Superbon believes he has faced many fighters with similar traits. So he's not concerned about the Atlanta, Georgia, resident's firepower heading into battle this Friday.

"Jo and I have been watching each other for a long time, as we both fought in kickboxing and then Muay Thai. We have been close to each other but never had the chance to lock horns," Superbon said.

"Jo is indeed a heavy hitter. But I have fought with a lot of heavy punchers like him, like Marat Grigorian, Giorgio Petrosyan, and Chingiz Allazov in kickboxing. I think everyone I've fought in kickboxing has heavier punches than Jo. I'm confident that I can handle them."
