Superlek Anticipates Monumental Clash With Rodtang At ONE Friday Fights 34

ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 has become an indistinguishable force in the all-striking arts. The Thai legend rides a seven-fight winning streak, with three finishes in a row.

"The Kicking Machine's" dominance has produced a stellar 2023. So it only makes sense that the irresistible force will meet the immovable object in ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon on Friday, 22 September, at ONE Friday Fights 34 for the latter's belt.

The pair were first meant to battle this past March at ONE Fight Night 8. The announcement sent shockwaves throughout the combat sports world. But when Rodtang suffered an injury, it was clear it was not meant to be.

This time around, both men are fit and fresh off recent victories. And Superlek believes that the stars have finally aligned for this sensational clash of styles in Bangkok, Thailand's Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

"This is a dream match for Thai and global fans. I think the ONE matchmakers want to put on the biggest main events that every fan wants to see. The fight between Rodtang and me has been highly anticipated for a long time," Superlek said.

"I think it's the perfect time for us to fight each other. We couldn't run from each other any longer. The time has come right now."

Superlek Kiatmoo9 Believes Clash With Rodtang Jitmuangnon Was Inevitable

Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Rodtang Jitmuangnon have co-existed alongside one another for quite some time. Over the years, the pair have transitioned back and forth between the Muay Thai and kickboxing realms. But due to their strong friendship, competing against each other wasn't always in their plans.

But with Rodtang as the undisputed king and Superlek cemented as the #1-ranked contender in the flyweight Muay Thai division, "The Kicking Machine" anticipated that the battle would happen sooner or later.

"It was my initial intention to climb the rankings to fight with Rodtang and become the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion. There are no other potential contenders left to challenge him in this division, except for me," Superlek said.

"I have had an eye on Rodtang for as long as he has competed in five-round Muay Thai. I used to compete at Lumpinee and Rajadamnern Stadiums like him. I knew that sooner or later, our paths would cross."
