The new year has just begun and there has already been a shakeup to the upcoming blockbuster event ONE 170. Superlek Kiatmoo9 was scheduled to defend his ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title against second-ranked Nico Carrillo in the main event, but he is out due to an injury.
Now, #5-ranked Nabil Anane has stepped forward to face the dangerous Scottish knockout artist, and they will compete for the ONE Interim Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title on 24 January at Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

In addition, ONE Championship has confirmed that the winner will face Superlek in a World Title unification bout at ONE 172: Takeru vs. Rodtang on 23 March. Fans, therefore, won't have to wait long for Thai Megastar's next fight.
The young Algerian-Thai phenom in Anane was originally scheduled to fight #3-ranked contender Kiamran Nabati on the same card. But he has been promoted to fight for the interim title - an opportunity that he will welcome with open arms.
Anane, just 20 years old, has been on a roll ever since his defeat in his promotional debut against Superlek in June 2023. Since then, he has secured five phenomenal victories against top-tier athletes, including Kulabdam Sor Jor Piek Uthai, Felipe Lobo, and Soe Lin Oo.
Two of his victories came by knockouts, but he will be up against an opponent who has finished all four of his foes inside three rounds. First, "King of the North" made a successful promotional debut against Furkan Karabag in April 2023, scoring a TKO victory.
Then, in 2023, he registered a win against Muangthai PK Saenchai. But Carrillo made a statement in his third outing by knocking out all-time Muay Thai great Nong-O Hama in the second round. He finished another Thai star, Saemapetch Fairtex, to emerge as a serious contender for the World Title.
Carrillo, who boasts an impressive record of 27-3, will aim to defeat the towering phenom to claim the interim strap. That would set up his date with destiny against Superlek, giving him a chance to become the undisputed king of the division.
