Superlek Promises To Go “100 Percent All Out” Against Jonathan Haggerty At ONE 168: Denver

By Mike Joseph

ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 has blitzed through the competition. "The Kicking Machine" has won all 10 of his last outings in dominant fashion. But he vows that none will be more clinical than his upcoming performance at ONE 168: Denver.

Superlek challenges two-sport ONE World Champion Jonathan Haggerty for the bantamweight Muay Thai crown on Saturday, 7 September, inside Denver, Colorado's Ball Arena in a rematch six years in the making.

The duo first clashed in 2018 in England. The Thai star left victorious after a cut on Haggerty's head forced an unceremonious ending. To many fans, and Superlek alike, the win has an asterisk next to it. So the kickboxing king wants to remove all doubt next month.

"I'm not happy that I was questioned, as if I wasn't able to win without the stoppage. I want to prove people wrong. I have always wanted a rematch," Superlek said.

"Haggerty has always been someone [I wanted] a rematch with since our first match in 2018. That fight was stopped by the ref. I won by TKO, but the crowd wasn't happy. There was a lot of booing as if I didn't deserve to win. I want to prove that I can still win the fight without a ref stopping it prematurely."

Superlek's recent run of form has seen him dispatch the likes of Nabil Anane, Takeru Segawa, and even ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon. His never-ending pressure and brutal kicks have allowed him to drain the life out of competitors.

But as frantic and as fast paced as his recent wins have been, "The Kicking Machine" teases that the high-speed nature of his showing at ONE 168 will be unlike anything that anyone has ever seen from him before.

Becoming a two-weight, two-sport king in ONE Championship requires a certain level of performance. And Superlek vows to shift into a whole new gear in order to achieve that status.

"This fight will be the first time ever I'll go 100 percent all out, putting a lot of pressure. I will be aggressive. Fans may know us as technical fighters, but they can expect an explosive fight on September 6. I'm looking for a knockout," Superlek said.

"It's high risk. I may lose my record of never being knocked out in my entire career, but I'm going for it. I'm giving my all for this fight. I'd like to win by knockout. Haggerty has never reached the fourth round when defending his belt, but I have. It doesn't matter if it's cut short or goes the distance. I'll find the opening to get the finish."
