Suraj upsets Sidhant to book final berth in AITA Talent Series

Chandigarh, June 14 (UNI) Fifth seeded Suraj Beniwal of Haryana defeated second seed Sidhant Solanki of Delhi 7-5, 6-3 in the semi-finals of the Under-16 singles of the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament here today.

Beniwal will now fight it out with local lad Raghav Singhal, who ousted another Chandigarh player Jivtesh Singh Kang in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.

In the Under-16 girls section, top seed Jaspreet defeated fourth seed Ravnoor Kaur of Chandigarh 6-3, 6-3, while seventh seed Rajvir Kaur of Chandigarh shocked second seed Rimpledeep Kaur of Punjab 6-2, 7-5 to set up their final encounter.

Meanwhile, in the boys singles Under-12 category, top seed Nischay Rawal of Chandigarh advanced into the finals by defeating local lad Jatinder Singh 6-1, 6-2. Ranjeet Singh, a trainee under CLTA-Army scheme, also moved into the finals as by beating Amit Bzad of Haryana 6-2, 6-4.
