Surinder Kaur slams 4 in a row as India rout Malaysia 6-0
Hong Kong, Sep 2 (UNI) Riding on striker Surinder Kaur's superb four goals in a row, India opened the defence of their title in with a facile win as they routed Malaysia 6-0 at the women's Asia Cup hockey tournament here today.
For the winners who led 3-0 at half time other goal scorers were Deepika Thakur and Jasjeet Kaur.
In a match in which Indians virtually toyed with their rivals, Deepika Thakur gave India the lead off a penalty corner and then Jasjeet captalised on a defensive lapse to make it 2-0 and after that it was Surinder Kaur all the way.
Three minutes before the end of the first session, Surinder consolidated the Indian lead as she scored her first and team's third goal.
The Malaysian girls simply had no clue as fast paced Indians dominated the second session too in this Pool A encounter at the King's Park Hockey Ground here.
Indians took some time to settle down in the session but once they got into their grove Malaysians could do nothing.
Surinder, fired three more goals to make her goal tally to four and team's tally to six and justified her billing of being a dangerous striker as she had emerged as the second highest goal scorer in the World Cup last year.
