Sushil may participate in free-style wrestling competition at Katra

Jammu, Sep 24 (UNI) The Beijing Olympics bronze medalist, wrestler Sushil Kumar is likely to take part in the event of free-style wrestling competition along with other wrestlers from across the country and the neighbouring Pakistan during a ten-day long Navratra Festival scheduled to begin from September 30 at Katra base camp in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, sources here today said.

Sushil Kumar has won a bronze medal in men's 66-kg freestyle wrestling at the recently held Beijing Olympics.

''The national and international wrestlers from country and the Pakistan have confirmed their participation for wrestling competition to be organised during the Navratra Festival while Olympic bronze medalist, Sushil Kumar is also likely to be awarded with cash award by the state government,'' official sources told UNI.

Besides wrestlers, Bollywood artists and cultural troupes from other North Eastern (NE) States would also grace the occasion.

''The main attraction of the nine-day long festival will be 'Chat Chandi Yagya' at Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan, which will be conducted by 100 Pandits for peace in the World especially in the state of Jammu and Kashmir,'' official sources asserted.

However, tight security arrangements would also be made by the security agencies with additional deployment of para-military forces at Katra base camp, on Domail-Katra road and en route 13-km long track to Vaishno Devi Shrine during Navratra celebrations.
