Svayam Partners With Khelo India To Enhance Accessibility For Para Games 2023

India's flagship sports program, Khelo India, and the pioneering accessibility organization Svayam have announced a partnership for the inaugural Khelo India Para Games.

The collaboration aims to enhance accessibility for young para-athletes in infrastructure and transportation.

The Para Games, a groundbreaking initiative by Khelo India, will see the participation of over 1400 para-athletes from all 36 States & Union Territories.

Taking place over eight days at major stadiums in the capital from December 10 to 17, the event encompasses seven disciplines: Para-Athletics, Para-Archery, CP-Football, Para-Badminton, Para Table-Tennis, Para-Shooting, and Para-Powerlifting.

Svayam will play a crucial role in providing accessible transportation for para-athletes, officials, and coaches, ensuring a safe and dignified commute from arrival to departure, including transport between accommodations and stadiums.

Additionally, Svayam is conducting sensitization training for 400 volunteers and Khelo India officials involved in the event.

In a commitment to holistic development regardless of physical abilities, Svayam conducted a comprehensive accessibility audit of the three major stadiums.

This audit identified and rectified existing gaps in infrastructure, ensuring true inclusivity with features such as accessible toilets, seating, and parking.

Sminu Jindal, Founder-Chairperson of Svayam, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing their joint efforts to make sports accessible to all.

She highlighted the significance of such collaborations in bringing hidden sporting talent to the forefront and acknowledged the increased budget for Khelo India, supporting para-sports and sports in India.

The collaboration between Khelo India and Svayam marks a substantial stride toward creating a more inclusive and accessible sports environment in India.

Together, they aim to enable individuals of all physical abilities to participate, compete, and enjoy the unity and excitement that sports bring to the nation.
