Swimmers all praise for acquatics complex
Guwahati, Feb 9 (UNI) Swimmers are all praise for the infrastructure and facilities at the pools in the aquatics complex that has been built for the 33rd National Games here.
By and large the guests were feeling at home at the Games village about two kilometer away from the main Indira Gandhi stadium. All the players are being escorted to the Games village by organisers after their arrival at the railway station outside the city.
National swimming coach Pradeep Kumar said, ''The new swimming pools here are of international standard and they should take care to maintain them properly for the future. They can still improve the lighting for events to be held at night while plastic cover should be used over the pool at night to keep the temperature at a comfortable range.'' Arjuna awardee Arun Shaw, who is a member of the national swimming selection committee, said, ''Now with an international standard infrastructure at place, Asom should now strive to produce quality swimmers. The facilities are too good.'' ''We are absolutely feeling comfortable. The hosts are nice, the food in the dinning hall is excellent, the transporation facility is very comfortable. All my players are happy,'' said Mrs Geeta Balaraju, the manger of Karnataka swimming team.
