Symonds needs time to think over future

Sydney, Sep 4 (UNI) Troubled all-rounder Andrew Symonds today said he needs a break from the game to think over his future.

Symonds was dropped from the Australian team after he missed a compulsory team meeting to go on a fishing trip before the first one-dayer against Bangladesh in Darwin.

''I have had some time to reflect on the events that took place in Darwin,'' Symonds said in his website roy63.com.

''I have been asked to think about what is important to me and I will take this time to do that. I would ask that during this time people respect my privacy and that of my friends and family,'' he added. ''I would like to thank for the many messages of support that I have received over the past day or so. I appreciate your best wishes.'' According to reports, Symonds is still upset after Cricket Australia (CA) forced him to downgrade racial abuse charges against off-spinner Harbhajan Singh during the home series against India earlier this year.

The burly all-rounder, who was sent back home by the CA, is doubtful for the tour to India which starts next month.
