Tai Chi gaining ground in India
Chennai, Feb 7 (UNI) Tai Chi, one of the slowest forms of martial art having its roots in China some 5,000 years ago, is gaining ground in India with 10,000 people in five cities actively following it.
Though into its tenth year, much was not known about the the Indian Chapter of Fu-Sheng-Yuan Tai Chi Academy. If the growing number of people including corporates, IT executives, sportspersons, who had taken to it over the last couple of months, are any indication Tai Chi is certain to emerge as the next thing to Yoga and meditation.
To commemorate the occasion, 77-year-old Fu Sheng Yuan President of the World Yong Nian Tai Chi Federation, formally Endorsed Sifu George Thomas as his authentic representative in India, at a function here last night.
Sheng Yuan while interacting with the students of the academy stressed on the importance of practicing the art form diligently.
Tai Chi, the ancient Chinese martial art, is about graceful meditative and light, natural movements which relaxes and stimulates every part of the body. It is a moving meditation set in motion by the constant interplay of two vital energies: Yin, the passive and Yang, the active principle, it is especially valuable for its ability to strengthen and improve one's health.
