ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai revealed what happened in his last fight and outlined his future plans to become a two-sport ONE World Champion when he faces Chinese striker Liu Mengyang in a featherweight kickboxing clash at ONE Friday Fights 137 on 19 December.

Tawanchai brings a 10-2 promotional record and 134 career victories into this crucial kickboxing showdown. The Thai superstar lost his previous kickboxing bout against Japan's Masaaki Noiri via third-round TKO, with Noiri ultimately capturing the ONE Interim Featherweight Kickboxing World Championship.

Tawanchai has spent considerable time analyzing his loss to Noiri and identifying the crucial mistake that cost him victory. The Thai champion explained how a momentary defensive lapse while throwing a knee created the opening for the devastating punch.

"In the last fight with Masaaki, I made a mistake and got hit by his punch. I don't feel like I performed poorly. The plan was good, but he came prepared. When I threw a knee, my guard dropped, and I got caught cleanly," Tawanchai said.

"I've been training exceptionally hard, reviewing my weaknesses, and strengthening my defense. Some people might say kickboxing isn't for me, but I believe I can adapt and prove myself. No one becomes a champion instantly. You have to evolve and face challenges."

The 26-year-old acknowledges critics who question whether kickboxing suits his style. However, Tawanchai remains determined to prove doubters wrong by demonstrating his ability to adapt and overcome obstacles through dedicated training and improvements.

For the Liu matchup, Tawanchai plans to deliver a definitive statement that silences all skepticism about his kickboxing abilities. He predicts a finish rather than allowing the judges to determine the outcome of this crucial bout.

"This fight won't go to the scorecards. This time, fans will see a 100 percent version of Tawanchai the kickboxer. My goal is simple: I want that second belt. That drive makes me confident that I will be the kickboxing champion next year," Tawanchai said.
