Bengaluru, March 7: The TCS World 10K, organised by Procam International, is now an IAAF Gold Label race, only the second 10K run to be awarded the tag by athletics' world governing body. The 11th edition of the run will be held Sunday, May 13, and will be flagged off from the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. Registrations for the run will commence from Thursday, March 8. They will close by April 20 or earlier, subject to the availability of running slots for all categories.

Apart from Ottawa, Canada, Bengaluru's TCS 10K is only the second road 10K race in the world to be given a Gold Label. The race will be held under five categories and will host participants across the country as well as a highly competitive line-up of the world's best track & field and road runners.

Elite World 10K for pros

Headlined by the Elite World 10K for Men and Women; the world's premier 10K will also witness amateur runners competing in the Open 10K, the running enthusiasts running the 6 km Majja Run, the 4 km Senior Citizens Run for participants above the age of 60 and the Champions with Disability.

Vivek Singh, joint managing director of Procam International, was elated that the run was awarded the Gold Label. "This IAAF Gold Label race attracts the best road and track racers globally and the success of this event is credited to all our stake-holders, the city authorities, our sponsors and partners and all our runners. We thank you for your support," he said.

Sandalwood star Puneeth Rajkumar, the face of the run, urged Bengaluru to get on to the streets. "Every year I look forward to this event on my calendar. It is that one time in the year when the city comes together as a community and builds in its commitment towards being fit and enabling societal changes through its fundraising initiatives. Today, the TCS World 10K is the largest international celebration on the streets in Bengaluru and I assure you, the experience of running on the day, is an experience that is like no other. As someone who partakes in this festival of running, I urge each and every one of you, to either lace up and get on the road for the first time or the tenth time, but come be part of this celebration of the city - because the experience is positively overwhelming," he said.
