Team poor show responsible for coaches's death: Imran
Karachi, Mar 20 (UNI) Former World Cup winning captain Imran Khan has held that the poor performance of the Pakistan cricket team was responsible for the tragic death of coach Bob Woolmer.
''Whatever the general public in Pakistan says, the fact is that Bob was not responsible for Pakistan's defeat because the coach's job is simply to teach and instruct. it is upto the players to implement them on the field,'' the legendary all-rounder was quoted as saying by the Daily News and Analysis (DNA) website.
After the team's shocking defeat to Ireland, a huge crowd gathered in front of Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq's Multan residence and chanted slogans of ''Death to Woolmer, Death to Inzamam''.
Reacting strongly on the team's debacle show in the on-going World cup, he criticised the leadership ability of Inzamam and said, ''The performance of the team is a sheer responsibility of the captain and no one but Inzamam is responsible for the team's exit from the World Cup,'' adding that the poor performance of the team is the only cause of Woolmer's cardiac arrest.
Former captain Asif Iqbal and opener Saeed Anwar also agreed with Imran and said Woolmer had been under intense criticism from the former coaches ever since he took up the responsibility of coaching the Pakistan cricket team.
