Team USA secured their fifth consecutive Olympic gold in men's basketball with a 98-87 win over France on Saturday. Stephen Curry led the charge with 24 points. France made significant strides early in the fourth quarter, driven by Wembanyama's performance. The vocal crowd at Bercy Arena supported them despite Joel Embiid receiving jeers for not representing France. Yet, it wasn't enough to overcome Team USA's lead.

The Golden State Warriors' star player was instrumental throughout the tournament. Kevin Durant added crucial free throws, and Booker scored a layup to extend their lead in the final moments. This victory marked Team USA's record-extending 17th Olympic gold in men's basketball.

Historic Achievement

France had to settle for their third silver medal in men's basketball, having previously finished second at London 1948 and Sydney 2000. Despite their efforts, they couldn't surpass Team USA's dominance on this occasion.
