Tejaswani shocked by unseeded Amrita Mukherjee

Mumbai, May 8 (UNI) The Girls' under-14 fifth seed Tejaswani Surya of Andhra Pradesh made a premature exit in the Bombay Gymkhana-TCS All India National Super Series Junior Tennis Tournament 2007 at the Bombay Gymkhana here today.

Unseeded Amrita Mukherjee of West Bengal caused the biggest upset of the day when she crushed Tejaswani 6-1, 6-1 to breeze into the quarter-finals.

Second seed Vaidehi Bhagvat of Maharashtra and third seed B.

Sowjanya of Andhra Pradesh were the top ranked players who made it to the last eight after enduring strong challenges.

Bhagvat struggled past Tamil Nadu's Sanjana M Kumar 6-3, 5-7, 6-3, while Sowjanya was stretched before pulling off a hard-fought 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 win.

Jeni Patel of Gujarat is enjoying her campaign in Mumbai as she overcame Sanjana Shree 6-1, 6-3 in a battle between qualifiers.
