Tejaswini, Anjali fails to qualify for finals at the ISSF World Cup
Bangkok, May 7 (UNI) Indian women shooters failed to put up a good show at the second day of the ISSF World Cup here, as both Tejaswini Sawant and Anjali Bhagwat failed to qualify for the finals of the 10m air rifle pistol event.
Tejaswini, who very narrowly missed the finals on the basis of a lesser last series, shot a score of 396 with a qualification series of 100,98,99 and 99 and finished 12th, while her highly-rated compatriot Anjali Bhagwat secured a disapponting 15th position with a score of 395 (97+99+99+100). The thrid Indian in the fray Suma Shirur finished 17th with a score of (100+96+100+99) in a strong field of 107-shooters.
Meanwhile, in the Minimum Qualification Section (MQS), Beijing Olympics qualifier Avneet Kaur Sidhu shot a score of 396 (100+98+99+99), while Meena Kumari scored of 393 (99+98+98+98).
The gold and silver in this event both went to China. Zhao Yinghui won the gold with a score of 502.6 (399+103.6), while Zhang Yi took the silver with a score of 502.1 (399+103.1). German Lechner Barbara won the bronze with a score of 502 (399+103).
