The PGA Tour has announced that Tiger Woods will not be participating in The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass next week. Woods was absent from the final list of participants, confirming his earlier indication that he would not compete. He expressed a lack of motivation for practice recently, which aligns with his decision to skip the event.
Woods has been absent from the last four editions of this tournament due to injuries. His last official appearance was at The Open in July, where he did not make the cut. Woods had planned a return at The Genesis Invitational but withdrew following his mother's passing.

After participating in Tuesday's TGL competition, Woods cited personal reasons and commitments with the PGA Tour policy board as factors for his absence. "This is the third time I've touched a club since my mom passed away, so I haven't really gotten into it," he shared with Sports Illustrated. "My heart is really not into practising right now."
Woods acknowledged that he has been preoccupied with various responsibilities and hasn't focused on golf. He mentioned that once he feels better, he will consider future tournaments. "Once I start probably feeling a little bit better and start getting into it, I'll start looking at the schedule," Woods added.
The Players Championship is set to occur at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. This year marks the last time Woods is automatically eligible due to his 2019 Masters victory. Scottie Scheffler aims for a historic third consecutive win, a feat last achieved by Jack Nicklaus in 1978.
Woods' absence from this prestigious event highlights his current challenges both personally and professionally. Fans and fellow players continue to support him during this difficult period as they await his eventual return to competitive golf.
