Tiger Woods has recently undergone surgery to alleviate the back spasms and pain that have troubled him throughout 2024. Woods, who has faced fitness challenges over the past few years, suffered severe leg injuries in a car accident in 2021. Despite appearing at all four majors this year, he missed the cut in three and finished 60th at the Masters. Additionally, illness forced him to withdraw from the Genesis Invitational in February.
The 15-time major champion has had multiple surgeries on his back over the last decade. On Friday, he disclosed that another procedure was necessary to address issues that affected his performance this season. "Earlier this morning Tiger underwent micro decompression surgery of the lumbar spine for nerve impingement in the lower back," read a statement posted on Woods' X account.

Dr Sheeraz Qureshi of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach performed the operation and declared it successful. Woods expressed optimism about his recovery, stating, "The surgery went smoothly, and I'm hopeful this will help alleviate the back spasms and pain I was experiencing throughout most of the 2024 season."
Woods added: "I look forward to tackling this rehab and preparing myself to get back to normal activities, including golf." His determination to return to form is evident as he embarks on his rehabilitation journey.
This latest surgery aims to provide relief from persistent back issues that have hindered his performance. Fans and sports enthusiasts are hopeful for his swift recovery and return to competitive golf.
