TN CM presents Rs 10 lakh cheque to Elavazhagi

Chennai, Mar 18: The Tamil Nadu Government today presented a cheque for Rs ten lakh to E Elavazhagi for winning the World Carrom Championship at France last month.

An official release said Chief Minister M Karunanidhi handed over the cheque to the Champion at the State Secretariat here.

The award was in tune with the government's decision to honour sportspersons who brought laurels to the State by winning medals in national and international levels.

Elavazhagi has so far won 37 medals and has been junior champion since 1998.

She won the gold in the senior national carrom championship this year.
