TN CM's gesture enables fencer to represent India

Chennai, Mar 30 (UNI) Coming to the rescue of a talented woman fencer hailing from an economically poor background, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced a financial assistance of Rs one lakh to enable C A Bhavanidevi compete in an international compettion in Turkey from April 10 to 18.

In an official press release here, the state government announced that Mr Karunanidhi sancitioned the assistance from the Chief Minister's General Relief Fund following a representation made by Bhavanidevi's parents that they cold not afford to meet the expenses to travel to Turkey and represent the country.

Bhavanidevi was selected to represent the country in the international competition in turkey in the wake of her good performances at national level competitions , besides doing well at state level.
