TN draws with Bihar; enters pre-quarters of Santosh Trophy

Jammu, May 30 (UNI) Tamil Nadu drew 2-2 with a spirited Bihar to become the first team from Cluster I to enter the pre-quarterfinals of 62nd National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy here today.

Bihar took the lead in the third minute with Nirinjan Kumar scoring an outstanding goal. Rajesh R equalised for Tamil Nadu, converting a penalty towards the end of the first half.

Already leading with six points with two consecutive wins, a confident Tamil Nadu dominated the game in the second half.

P C Raju was the man for the Tamils this time, who received a pass near the right wing and made no mistake in the 46th minute.

However, the Bihar lads kept fighting shoulder to shoulder with Tamil Nadu.

Mohammad Shahnaz scored from near the penalty area to bring the smiles back on the faces of his teammates in the 62nd minute.

Later, despite open chances for both the teams on several occasions, the match ended in a draw.
