TN to meet Chandigarh in final

Vijayawada, Jan 19 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu girls thrashed defending champions Kerala 3-1 and Chandigarh crushed West Bengal by a similar margin to enter the final of the 33rd Reliance Junior National Volleyball Championship.

In an exciting semi-final in the knock-out phase, Tamil Nadu after winning the first set 25-20 put up a poor show in the second and lose to Kerala 21-25. However, the resurgent Tamil Nadu girls downed Kerala by winning the next two 25-17, 25-23 to enter the final.

In another semi-final match, West Bengal which won the first set 23-25 could not capitalise on it as Chandigarh girls played gallantly and grabbed the next three sets in a row 25-21, 25-19 and 25-22.

Result: (semi-final) girls: Tamil Nadu bt Kerala 25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 25-23 Chandigarh bt West Bengal 23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-22.
