Tommy Fleetwood is aiming to secure his first PGA Tour victory after taking the lead at the St. Jude Championship. The second round in Memphis was interrupted by lightning, but Fleetwood had already completed a six-under 64. He leads by four shots over Akshay Bhatia, Collin Morikawa, and Justin Rose, with Rose having two holes left to play.
Fleetwood has achieved seven wins on the DP World Tour but is still chasing his first PGA Tour title. "It hasn't happened for me yet out on the PGA Tour, but I would much rather be up there and not quite get it done than not there at all," he remarked after Friday's round. He remains optimistic about his chances this weekend.

Reflecting on his performance, Fleetwood noted, "Of course, when you shoot two good scores, it's easy to say everything has been going well but I think for the most part I've been very good off the tee, put myself in position to have a go at the course. My iron play has been good and solid, and I've rolled the ball well."
Morikawa carded a three-under 65 while Bhatia managed a one-under 69. Rose will continue his round on three-under through 16 holes when play resumes. Morikawa aims to catch Fleetwood at TPC Southwind despite facing mental challenges with his game.
"The self-belief when I tee it up is always there," Morikawa said. "It's just a hard game... Every day, you don't know what to expect." He focuses on smooth swings and has seen positive results over the first two days.
Kurt Kitayama recorded the lowest score of the round with a 63, placing him in the top five alongside Andrew Novak at eight-under. "You can't control what everyone else is doing," Kitayama stated. "If you play well, it's going to take care of itself."
The tournament sees twenty-one players needing to finish their second round on Saturday. The final group still has eight holes remaining as they continue their pursuit of Fleetwood's lead.
