New Delhi, August 6: English golfing star and European Ryder Cup hero Tommy Fleetwood is set to compete in the USD 4 million DP World India Championship, scheduled from October 16 to 19 at the Delhi Golf Club.
He will join Rory McIlroy, the four-time major champion and career grand slam winner, in what is poised to be one of the most anticipated golf events on Indian soil.

Fleetwood, a seven-time winner on the European Tour and Olympic silver medallist, will be making his return to Delhi for the first time since 2016. The 34-year-old had a standout year in 2017, being crowned European No. 1 after topping the Race to Dubai Rankings.
In 2018, he made a stunning debut at the Ryder Cup in Paris, earning four points out of five to lead Europe to a dominant win. He continued to be a Ryder Cup stalwart, famously sealing the cup in Rome in 2023 with a decisive 3&1 victory over Rickie Fowler.
Co-sanctioned by the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), the DP World India Championship boasts the largest prize fund for any DP World Tour event held in the country. The tournament also serves as the eighth event in the 'Back 9' series of the 2025 Race to Dubai, just before the season-ending playoffs in November.
Fleetwood expressed his excitement ahead of the championship: "I can't wait to get back to Delhi for the DP World India Championship. I'm aiming to play some good golf and entertain the Indian fans at an important point in the season."
Reflecting on the course, he added, "I'm also very much looking forward to playing at Delhi Golf Club again. I remember it as a tight, challenging, strategic golf course. I think it's a great leveller, where players with all styles of play can contend. It should make for a very exciting week."
The championship follows the success of the 2025 Hero Indian Open, won by Eugenio Chacarra, and underscores the growing presence of elite international golf in India. With star names like McIlroy and Fleetwood in the mix, the DP World India Championship promises to elevate the profile of Indian golf on the global stage.
