Around 300 of India's most skilled female boxers are gearing up for a battle of prowess at the 8th Elite Women's National Boxing Championship, which will unfold at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida from March 21 to March 27.

This event, which marks a significant moment for national boxing, is hosted in collaboration with the UP Boxing Association, celebrating the tournament's return to the same venue that witnessed its successful execution in the previous year.

The championship is set to adhere strictly to the competition guidelines established by the World Boxing and Boxing Federation of India (BFI). It welcomes participation from boxers born within the January 1, 1984, to December 31, 2005, timeframe.

With the deadline for entry numbers set for March 10 and final name submissions due by March 15, each state unit has the opportunity to present up to 10 boxers for the competition. The event officially kicks off on March 20, leading into a week filled with competitive excitement.

The itinerary includes initial rounds from March 21 to March 24, quarter-finals on March 25, semi-finals on March 26, and culminates with the finals on March 27. This schedule sets the stage for intense boxing action, showcasing the talents of India's elite female boxers.

BFI Secretary General Hemanta Kumar Kalita highlighted the championship's critical role in the boxing community, stating, "The Elite Women's National Championship have been a breeding ground for future champions, giving young talents a chance to test themselves against the best. As the first nationals in the new Olympic preparation cycle, this edition will be crucial in identifying and grooming boxers for the next three years."

The championship's structure involves a three-round format for each match, with bouts consisting of three-minute rounds and one-minute rest periods. The ten-point must-scoring system will apply, ensuring adherence to World Boxing Technical & Competition Rules. Additionally, boxers must comply with daily weigh-ins, maintaining stringent regulatory standards throughout the tournament.

Adding to the competitive atmosphere, over 100 coaches and support staff, alongside 60 technical officials, will converge at the venue, contributing to the event's grandeur and ensuring a high-quality boxing showcase.

In the previous edition, the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) emerged victorious, securing a total of eight medals, including five golds, which placed them ahead of Haryana by eight points.

Haryana settled for second place with seven medals, comprising three golds, three silvers, and a bronze. As the defending champions, RSPB aims to replicate their dominant performance, setting the stage for an electrifying competition.
