Top cueists for All India handicap snooker tourney from May 16
Mumbai, May 12 (UNI) Some of the country's top national and international snooker players like Alok Kumar, Devendra Joshi, Yasin Merchant, Sarang Shroff, and Dhruv Sitwala will be seen in action in the Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana All India Handicap Snooker tournament from May 16 to June 2.
The tournament would be played for the Viresh Prabhu trophy.
Viresh Prabhu was a talented snooker player and had represented Maharashtra in two nationals. He, however, had a tragic young death and this tournament is being conducted in his memory, the organisers the Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana stated at a press conference here last evening.
The tournament, being sponsored by Elder Pharmaceuticals and Mayur Priters with contributions from Rajiv Sheth, will see the winner pocket Rs 60,000 plus a two-year membership of the Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana, while the runner-up will stand to gain Rs 40,000 plus a year's membership of the Gymkhana. The losing semifinalists will gain Rs 25,000 each, it was announced at the conference.
