Torres rejects move to cash-rich Anzhi Makhachkala

London, Mar 13: Chelsea's £50million man Fernando Torres has rejected a move to Russia with Anzhi Makhachkala in the summer.

Torres is clearly not favoured at the Bridge and will look for options at the end of the season with Italy and Spain his preferable destination.

Chelsea signed Torres from Liverpool for a British transfer record of £50m in January 2011, but the Spaniard failed to recreate his create his form at Stamford Bridge.

And the Blues' owner Roman Abramovich is ready to incur losses and sell Torres for £15million in the summer.

The 28-year old striker has been linked with a move to former side Atletico Madrid with Chelsea targeting Radamel Falcao. The Columbian striker has been a long term target and Abramovich is ready to splash £45million for his services.

Chelsea have lacked a prolific striker since Didier Drogba left the club after helping them lift the Champions League for the first time in the club's history.

Demba Ba joined the Blues in January and made a quick impact in front of goal but has lost touch lately, scoring just one goal in nine games. Torres showed glimpses of form when Chelsea appointed former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez as manager, but it lasted only a few games as he last scored a league goal in December.

Earlier last month, Chelsea midfielder Yossi Benayoun came to the support of Torres and blasted the club for not handling the striker well enough. The Israeli mentioned the pressure of having such a huge price tag on his back and blamed the club and management for his downfall.
