TV rights contract may delay Abu Dhabi series

Lahore, Apr 27 (UNI) The Abu Dhabi three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka might now be delayed with the organisers cancelling the contarct of the firm which was awarded the television rights of the tournament.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sources said that the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council (ADCC) had cancelled the contract given earlier to a company called IMC for its inability to furnish the very first installment.

''The ADCC had initially awarded the television rights of the series to IMC but apparenty there was a default in payment of the first installment and the contract now stands cancelled,'' the 'Dawn' quoted the source as saying.

The source added that ADCC was considering delaying the series by a week to properly secure the television rights. Both the Asian nations are due to faceoff next month.

''At this moment the position is that the television rights are up for sale but no party has shown any interest in acquiring it at a competitive rate,'' the source disclosed.
