Rio de Janeiro, Aug 14: American swimmer Michael Phelps scripted history as he bagged the 23rd gold medal of his career and 5th gold medal at the Rio Olympics 2016.

Phelps, the greatest Olympian of all time, won the medal in the Men's 4x100 team medley relay category with Team USA.

Michael Phelps was swimming in the butterfly leg and the third leg, of the race as part of the US team alongside Ryan Murphy, Cody Miller, Phelps and Nathan Adrien.
