Tye Ruotolo Calls Pawel Jaworski ‘One-Trick Pony’ Ahead Of ONE Fight Night 41 Title Clash On 14 March

By MyKhel Staff

Reigning ONE Championship Welterweight Submission Grappling World Champion Tye Ruotolo is set to defend his title against rising Polish star Pawel Jaworski in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 41 on 14 March.

The 23-year-old American grappling sensation returns to his dominant domain of submission grappling after recently picking up two impressive victories in mixed martial arts competition.

Tye Ruotolo Calls Pawel Jaworski One-Trick Pony Ahead Of ONE Fight Night 41 Title Clash On 14 March

Ruotolo has been unstoppable inside ONE Championship, remaining unbeaten with 10 victories in 10 appearances, six of which came via submission finish. His performances have helped cement his reputation as one of the best pound-for-pound competitors in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu today.

Ruotolo originally captured the inaugural welterweight submission grappling world title in 2023, adding the prestigious ONE Championship gold to a résumé that already includes a world championship under the International Brazilian Jiu‑Jitsu Federation. Grappling excellence also runs in the family, as his twin brother Kade Ruotolo currently holds the lightweight submission grappling crown in the promotion.

Standing across the circle will be 21-year-old Polish prodigy Jaworski, a fast-rising name in the European grappling scene. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt enters the contest in red-hot form after securing three major titles under the International Brazilian Jiu‑Jitsu Federation banner last year, making him one of the most promising challengers Ruotolo has faced.

Despite acknowledging Jaworski's dangerous submission game, particularly his feared heel hook attacks, Ruotolo remains confident in his overall skill set heading into the title defense.

"I always go back to the saying 'preparation meets opportunity equals success.' I prepared the best I could, and the opportunity came exactly the way I was hoping it would," Ruotolo said.

The American champion admitted that Jaworski's heel hook ability is among the best in the sport but believes his own versatility gives him multiple pathways to victory.

"I think he might attack a heel hook better than I can attack a heel hook. But in every other category of jiu-jitsu, in the most humble way possible, I'm more experienced and I understand jiu-jitsu better," Ruotolo said.

While respectful of the challenger's strengths, the champion did not hold back in his assessment of Jaworski's style.

"I think he's a little bit of a one-trick pony, but he's as good as it gets at what he does, 100 percent. I'm not underestimating him in any shape or form. I just think I have many different routes to victory, and I think his route to victory is one."

With Ruotolo's dynamic, high-pace grappling and Jaworski's lethal leg-lock game set to collide, the welterweight submission grappling world title bout promises to be one of the most intriguing matchups at ONE Fight Night 41. Fans can expect a high-level technical battle as the champion looks to extend his perfect record in the promotion while the young challenger attempts to pull off a major upset.
