U23 World Wrestling Championships: Amruta Wins Silver in Las Vegas

Indian wrestler Amruta secured a silver medal in the women's 72kg category at the U23 World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas after finishing runner-up in the gold-medal bout against Ukraine's Iryna Zablotska.

Amruta enjoyed an impressive run through the competition, registering two successive victories by pinfall in the earlier rounds to book her place in the final. However, she could not overcome Zablotska in the title clash, suffering a 0-6 defeat to settle for the silver medal.

Despite missing out on gold, Amruta's performance added another podium finish to India's campaign at the championships. Her achievement also took India's overall medal tally to three.

Komal had earlier won bronze in the women's 59kg category, while Vishvajit More created history by claiming India's first-ever silver medal in the Greco-Roman discipline at the U23 World Wrestling Championships in the 55kg category.

Amruta's silver further strengthened India's presence at the international age-group competition, highlighting the country's growing medal prospects across wrestling disciplines.
