Bengaluru, September 11: The veteran Canadian lightweight, Mitch Clarke announced his retirement on Saturday (September 9) night soon after his second-round TKO loss to Alex White at UFC 215.
The 31-year-old, who suffered his third straight loss called it quits in his adopted hometown.
White kept connecting in the second round against a tough Mitch Clarke, who refused to fall. As the significant strikes continued to mount the Canadian finally was saved by the referee, giving White the win by TKO at 4:36 of the second round.
Clarke's face was badly battered and the Edmonton fighter announced his retirement from professional MMA.
"It was great to fight here in Edmonton in my adopted hometown," said Clarke. "Tonight, you saw my final fight."

Originally a Saskatchewan, now based in Edmonton, Clarke retires with a career record of 11-5. While noted for his toughness, Clarke after the latest defeat was 2-5 in the UFC. His highlight was a submission victory over Al Iquinta at UFC 173, which earned him a performance of the night bonus.
Clarke, who received loud and vocal support from the crowd at Rogers Place, open the first round pretty well, but White opened up on Clarke for the majority of the second-round before the referee finally stepped in and waved off the bout late in that round.
