UFC 303 Results: Alex Pereira Retains Light Heavyweight Title With KO of Jiri Prochazka in Historic Rematch

UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira successfully retained his belt following a second-round finish of Jiri Prochazka in the headliner of UFC 303: Pereira vs. Prochazka 2 event in front of the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday (June 30).

The seventh numbered event of 2024, which recorded 18,881 audience in attendance and the fourth highest grossing event in UFC history - $15.9 Million, saw the fans treated to a night of high-level MMA action despite several changes to an already altered card.

5 of the 13 bouts on the card, including the main event, were stoppage wins with all 5 being either knockout (KO) or technical knockout (TKO). Six fighters collected bonuses with Cub Swanson vs Andre Fili on the prelims bagging the fight of the night.

Apart from Fili and Swanson, main eventer Pereira, Macy Chiasson, Joe Pyfer and Payton Talbott all walked away with an extra 50K USD as performance bonuses for their respective stoppage wins. Here is the recap from UFC 303:

UFC 303 went through change after change to arrive at the final card that thrilled audiences at the end of the 12th International Fight Week. RTU winner Rei Tsuruya put on an outstanding grappling performance for a victory in his UFC debut with WWE's Shinsuke Nakamura in his corner.

However, Michelle Gomez-Waterson had a disappointing but very emotional retirement fight with a montage to celebrate her long career following a decision loss to Gillian Robertson in the early prelims.

By way of three knockouts, Joe Pyfer, Jean Silva and Payton Talbott each cemented their status as the next wave of contenders. Cub Swanson and Andre Fili delivered the Fight of the Night in an instant classic. And that was all on the prelims!

On the main card, late notice replacements created unpredictable action as Roman Dolidze went up a weight class and defeated Anthony Smith to end up ranked top ten in two different divisions; and, Diego Lopes welcomed Dan Ige on just four hours' notice for a crazy fast three-rounder.
