
Mexico City, August 6: The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) were in Mexico and featured the UFC Fight Night 114: Pettis Vs Moreno hosted at the Arena Ciudad de México, Mexico City on Saturday (August 5).
In the main event of the night, flyweight Sergio Pettis took on Mexico's Brandon Moreno. Moreno started off well in the fist round, but detoriated in the remaining rounds and lost to the American Pettis via unanimous desicion in a hard fought five round bout.
In the co-main event, Mexico's Alexa Grasso earned points from two judges and defeated Randa Markos by a split decision in a women's strawweight fight to the delight of the home crowd.
To kick off the main card, In a close battle, Alejandro Perez earned a split decision victory against Andre Soukhamthath in a bantamweight bout. While, in the middleweight bout that followed, Sam Alvey scored points from two judges against Rashad Evans to gain a split decision win.
In the featherweight bout, debutant announced Humberto Bandenay announced himself via a first round knock out win against the undefeated Martin Bravo. Bandenay connected a knee followed by body kicks to leave Bravo out cold on the floor.
While in the next fight, welterweights Alan Jouban and Niko Price did battle. Price connected a huge right hand followed it by strikes on the ground and earned a first round technical knock out (TKO) victory to extend his undefeated streak.
Mexico's own Alvaro Herrera kicked off the event in front of his home fans in a lightweight bout against Jordan Rinaldi, where Rinaldi resisted Herrera's choke and locked one of his own and picked up a submission (Von Flue choke) victory in the first round.
Followed it was another first round submission (rear naked choke) win for Joseph Morales against Roberto Sanchez. Next up, Jose Alberto Quinonez scored a decision win against Diego Rivas. In the second bantamweight bout, Rani Yahya defeated Henry Briones in the third submission victory of the night.
The first knock out of the night and the fastest flyweight finish in UFC history was delivered by Dustin Oritz when he connected a massive right on Hector Sandoval flooring him in the first round within the fifteen second mark.
In the last bout of the prelims, we witnessed the second knock out when Jack Hermansson took down Brad Scott and landed some huge elbows followed by punches to win via TKO (Technical Knock Out). The result adds to the previous four first round stoppages in Hermansson's middleweight career.
