Fighting for the second time in a month, Marlon Moraes made a major statement to the UFC's bantamweight division with a brutal knockout of Aljamain Sterling in a bantamweight bout.
To open the event, Trevin Giles had to weather a first-round ground game storm from Antonio Braga Neto, who was fighting for the first time in three and a half years. But thanks to his boxing on point all fight, Giles picked up a TKO at the 2:27 mark of the third round of a middleweight bout.
Followed it was a lightweight bout where Davi Ramos and Chris Gruetzemacher were in a close battle but Ramos got the better of Gruetzemacher and locked in the RNC to force the tap at the 0:50 mark of Round 3.
Next up bantamweights, Alejandro Perez and Iuri Alcantara turned in 15 minutes of a slugfest that most fans would've considered a great opportunity to hit the bathroom or concession stand. However, Perez took a unanimous decision from Alcantara in the end.
Later in a battle between one man who saw the clinch as an opportunity to strike and another who looked at it as an invitation to wrestle, Frankie Saenz did enough damage with his punches and knees to win via a narrow split-decision victory over UFC newcomer Merab Dvalishvili.
Next up, Dana White's Contender Series' Alex Perez picked up right where he left off when made easy work of Carls John de Tomas with a dominant performance on the ground, ultimately coaxing de Tomas to tap to a D'Arce choke at the 1:54 mark of the second round.
