New York, July 23: Long Island hosted its first ever Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event UFC Fight Night: Weidman Vs Gastelum at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York on Saturday (July 22).

In the main event, former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman ended a three-fight skid against Kelvin Gastelum as he won via submission when he applied the arm triangle choke ending the bout at 3:45 mark in the third round.

Featherweights Dennis Bermudez and Darren Elkins clashed in the co-main event in a close game to call in which Elkins was awarded the win via a split decision earning points in the first two rounds.

In the main card opener, Jimmie Rivera took his unbeaten streak to 5-0 in the UFC Bantamweight division when he defeated Thomas Almeida earning points from all three judges across the board via unanimous decision.

Followed it was an extremely close light heavyweight bout , a win for either would take them close to the top 10 in the division. Patrick Cummins picked up the victory as he defeated Gian Villante via split decision earning points in the first and third rounds.

While on the under card, former linebacker of Alabama on his UFC debut Eryk Anders landed an early knockout against Rafael Natal at the 2:54 mark of Round 1 in a welterweight bout.

A welterweight bout saw another knockout of the night, as Alex Olivera finished Ryan LaFlare at 1:50 mark in the second round.

To kick off the event, a rematch from the Ring of Combat promo, Chris Wade defeated Frankie Perez scoring points across the board via unanimous decision in a lightweight bout.

Shane Burgos kept his undefeatedstreak alive as he picked up a unanimous decision victory over Godofredo Peppey in a featherweight bout.

In the heavyweight showdown, debutant Junior Albini got the job done inside a round as he finished Timothy Johnson via TKO (punches) in the Fight Pass exclusive.

We also witnessed a bantamweight bout where Marlon Vera applied an armbar on Brian Kelleher to win on the night via submission at 2:18 mark of Round 1.

In the other preliminary card bouts, Chase Sherman beat Damian Grabowski via unanimous decision in a heavyweight bout.

While in the other two featherweight bouts, undefeated Jeremy Kennedy got a win via unanimous decision against Kyle Bochniak and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos also earned points across the board and defeated Lyman Good via unanimous decision.
