Former UFC Bantamweight champion jumped up the queue for a title shot after dominating Deiveson Figueiredo in the headliner of UFC Macau 2024: Yan vs. Figueiredo event which took place at the Galaxy Arena in Macau, China on Satuday (November 23).
UFC returned to Macau for a sold out event that was action from start to finish. The main card was a blockbuster all the way through. For the hometown hopefuls, it was a first-round finish for Zhang Mingyang, then a massive upset by Gabriella Fernandes over Wang Cong.

Carlos Ulberg and Volkan Oezdemir had a barnburner that went an unbelievable three rounds. Closing the card, Yan Xiaonan set up her request for a rematch with Zhang Weili after a brilliant boxing performance in the co-main event.
Earlier, a thrilling preliminary card wrapped with three athletes punching their ticket to the UFC roster on the ROAD TO UFC Season 3 Finals: SuYoung You, DongHun Choi, and Shi Ming - who earned $50,000 for her stunning head kick KO.
Three more fighters bagged performance bonus for the respective stoppage win on the card as Muslim Salikhov, Gabriella Fernandes and Zhang Mingyang took home an extra USD50K. Here is a look at the recap of UFC Macau:
Yan and Figueiredo closed out the show in Macau with an entertaining give-and-take in the bantamweight division, where the Russian standout emerged with a unanimous decision win.
It was closer than the final scores suggested, but also a clear victory for the former champion, as Yan was the more active and effective striker throughout. Figueiredo had his moments, including staggering Yan in the fourth, but every time the Brazilian landed, "No Mercy" quickly responded, ensuring his adversary could never build sustained momentum.
Following the decision win, Yan said, "I felt that I led in the fight, but anything can happen in UFC. Before my fight, (UFC bantamweight champion) Merab (Dvalishvili) said that Deiveson was the number one contender for the title.
"Merab, what do you say now, when I beat the number one? I want the match with Merab. Thank you to everyone who came here to support me!" Yan added, calling for a title shot.
Fighting at home in China for the first time in six years, Yan Xiaonan delivered a confident performance in the co-main event, completely out-working Tabatha Ricci to get back into the win column.
After the win, Yan said, "My coaches gave me this strategy and they are the best. I got a lot more excited, because usually my opponents are the ones who have the (home town crowd) supporters, but now I fight in my home country. I'm in my home country so I have the home court. And now, to Zhang Weili. I think I've earned the rematch now to get the belt back. I'm ready!"
