UFC on FOX 27 results: Jacare stops Brunson again

Charlotte, January 28: History repeats itself as Ronaldo Souza knocks out Derek Brunson in a middleweight bout that headlined the UFC Fight Night: Jacare Vs Brunson 2 (also known as UFC on FOX 27) at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday (January 27).

In the UFC on FOX 27 main event, Souza landed a head kick to grunson Brunson, then finished him off with punches at the 3:50 mark of the first round. The pair fought in a rematch - five and a half years after "Jacare" knocked out Brunson in 41 seconds in a Strikeforce fight.

In the co-main event, Andre Fili used takedowns against Dennis Bermudez for a split decision win as he took the points as well as blocked Bermudez's attempts to get him to the ground. Fili won the featherweight scrap with a pair of 29-28 scores, while Bermudez earned a single score of 30-27.

Fili starts his first winning streak in the UFC after a mixed run in his first nine fights in the promotion. While, Bermudez lost for the third straight time and has dropped five of his past seven fights.

Also on the main card, in a lightweight bout, the undefeated Gregor Gillespie spoilt Jordan Rinaldi's home coming with a first-round TKO at 3:46. While, Drew Dober - fight of the night candidate - topped Frank Camacho in a decison win.

In the prelims of the night, Bobby Green and Vinc Pichel earned decision wins in their respective lightweight bouts. Plus, Katlyn Chookagian, Randa Markos, Ji Yeon Kim picked up victories in the Women's bouts.

There were also three stoppages in the prelims as welterweight Niko Price submitted George Sullivan. While, Cory Sandhagen stopped Austin Arnett via TKO and Mirsad Bektic knocked out Godofredo Pepey.
