
Philipe Lins is battle ready as he finally faces Ovince Saint Preux in a light heavyweight bout on the preliminary card of UFC Vegas 69: Andrade vs. Blanchfield at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas on Saturday (February 18) night.
The pair were were previously linked to meet twice, but the fight never took place. In November 2013, Saint Preux withdrew from a bout, while Lins withdrew in UFC 282 in December 2022 as late replacement opponent.
Now, with the pair finally set to meet, Lins spoke exclusively to myKhel.com about the bout, his camp and his biggest opponent so far in Saint Preux.
"I had a great camp. Have made a great strategy with my coach to fight him. And I'm ready. Ovince Saint Preux my opponent is an experienced guy. A big name. And a victory over him, will do good for my UFC career," Lins said on his preparations.
"I'm ready to put my body on the line, use everything I did in my camp, use all my talent and put in a show to get the result."
Heading into the fight this weekend, both Saint Preux and Lins are 1-2 in their last three fights, with their solitary victory coming in their most recent outings.
In April, Lins picked up his first UFC win when he defeated Marcin Prachnio by unanimous decision on his return to light heavyweight. In May, Saint Preux won a rematch against Mauricio Rua by split decision.
Despite missing out on action for nearly a year, Lins has said he has no pressure to get back in the Octagon to face his next opponent. "No, no pressure. It's very normal. I'm feeling good."
Lins lost his first two bouts in the UFC in the heavyweight division, but won on his return to light heavyweight. So, the Brazilian, who feels at home in light heavyweight. is confident heading into his showdown with Saint Preux.
"I started UFC career with two losses at heavyweight and returned to light heavyweight under a lot of pressure. But that win against Marcin Prachnio, took a lot of weight off my shoulders," Lins added.
"I'm confident for this fight. I'm chilling at my home in light heavyweight division. I can't wait to be there. To do what I love. To make the people happy right now. And put in a show for everybody (for the UFC, guys like me, for my teammates, my family."
UFC Vegas 69: Andrade vs. Linchfield will take place on Saturday (February 18) and fans in India can watch the live coverage of the event on on Sony Sports TEN 2 channels on 19th February 2023 from 5:30 AM IST.
