UFC Vegas 76 results and recap: Strickland wipes out top 10 ambitions of Magomedov with second round TKO

Las Vegas, July 2: Sean Strickland wiped out the middleweight top 10 ambitions of Abus Magomedove during the main event of UFC Vegas 76: Strickland vs. Magomedov at the UFC Apex Facility in Las Vegas on Saturday (July 1).

The 12-fight card saw six fights end in stoppages and six go the distance for the decision. Among the six stoppage wins, four were knockouts or technical knockouts, while two were submission wins.

The preliminary card fight between lightweights Elvis Brener and Guram Kutateladze was awarded the fight of the night bonus, while main eventer Sean Strickland and main card opener Nursulton Ruziboev pocketed an extra USD50K for their respective stoppage wins.

Middleweight Magomedov had a high-stakes match with No. 7 ranked Strickland and looked dangerous in an aggressive first round. But in the second, Strickland's experience and fight IQ gave him the edge and he was able to ramp up the striking and took out Magomedov with a sensational TKO.

Following the finish, Strickland said, "I ain't slowing down, I ain't stopping. If you want to go down and wrestle or have some Peter Pan kicks, bring it. The UFC is the one who pays me, but without you guys, I wouldn't get a check, and they paid me really good for this fight.

"I want the title. If you don't want to give me the title, then give me (Israel Adesanya). I want the first and only Chinese champion (Adesanya was a champion in China's Glory of Heroes kickboxing promotion). Let's do this."

In the co-main event, No. 15 lightweight Grant Dawson deftly took No. 12 ranked Damir Ismagulov to the canvas and brilliantly hunted for submissions while maintaining back control through almost the full three rounds.

Ismagulov showed incredible defense, but couldn't escape Dawson's relentless work and took the unanimous decision after the judges scored the lightweight co-main event in the latter's favour.

"This performance was 10% me. Those guys standing behind you, it was 90% them - the coaches I have at American Top Team are second to none. Next, I want a big name or a big rank," I

"If that's, Tony Ferguson, that's a go because it's a big name. If it's Beneil Dariush, that's a go because it's a big rank. Whoever it is, I'm here to tell the world I'm one of the best!"
