Las Vegas, October 8: Bobby Green jumped into the lightweight rankings with a stoppage win over Grant Dawson in the main event of UFC Vegas 80: Dawson vs. Green at the UFC Apex Facility in Las Vegas on Saturday (October 7).
The 10-fight card saw four fights end in stoppages, while six fights went the distance for the decision. Among the 4 stoppage wins, 3 were knockouts or technical knockouts and 1 was a submission win.

While there was no fight of the night bonus, four fighters - Green, Joe Pyfer, Drew Dober and Nate Maness - pocketed an extra USD50K as performance bonuses for their respective stoppage wins on the card.
In the main event, fan favorite striker Green jumped into the rankings in a big way with a one punch KO of #10 ranked submission ace Dawson in just 33 seconds of the first round.
Following the quick finish, Green said, "I thought I hit him with the right... it was a straight left! Where my dogs at?! Let me see my dogs! I don't call shots.
"I just take whoever they put in front of me. But I want to fight in December. I want to be the most active fighter this year. Nobody got more fights than me this year. So put me in December."
In the co-main event, tt was like watching two freight trains approaching when up-and-coming middleweight Pyfer went toe-to-toe with veteran Abdul Razak Alhassan.
Both men connected with big, powerful punches and kicks throughout two rounds, then Pyfer showed power and versatility with a big slam to arm triangle choke that put out Alhassan.
After the submission victory, Pyfer said, "I had so much anxiety, so many nerves in this fight. I respect Abdul and his coaches. That high cross (punch) to the waist (light and slam)... it wasn't something I was looking for.
"I just knew I was better than this man everywhere. For all you kids: this is important to me. I'm not a role model, but I want to be an inspiration. I come from nothing. Believe in yourself."
Also on the main card, Dober stopped Ricky Glenn via TKO inside the first round of a lightweight bout before Joaquin Buckley dominated Alex Morono for a decision in a welterweight bout. In the main card opener, Bill Algeo outworked Alexander Hernandez for a decision in a featherweight bout.
In the preliminary card, China's Aoriqileng stayed composed on the feet and used his best tools against grappler Johnny Munoz, and his striking earned him the nod from the judges and a unanimous decision victory.
In the only stoppage win on the prelims, Nate Maness claimed a first-round TKO over Mateus Mendonca, while Karolina Kowalkiewicz and JJ Aldrich earned decision wins in their respective bouts against Diana Belbita and Montana De La Rosa.
