UFC Vegas 87 Recap

No. 12 ranked heavyweight "Bigi Boy" Rozenstruik and undefeated Gaziev showed a range of action to open the fight, from a tactical kickboxing affair to Gaziev's grappling success off a takedown.

In the second, Rozenstruik landed jabs and staved off the grappling, but the clinch of Gaziev was in play. Rozenstruik relied on experience, cardio, and massive striking output in the third round, making Gaziev quit in his corner in his first professional loss.

After the win, Rozenstruik said, ""It was amazing. The time I had to work on a lot of things, you saw it today. Even though I wanted to knock him out, I didn't rush. I had patience...

"We spent time working on specific things, and this was a piece of it. My corner gave me the right instruction: stick to the jab, keep moving forward, and eventually he gave up. Anyone who's out there, come and get it."

In the co-main event, light heavyweights Vitor Petrino and Tyson Pedro showed great respect for the others' power, producing a tense, low-output affair that lasted all three rounds.

Petrino came out more aggressively in the third, attacking on the feet before securing a takedown and out-hustling Pedro to win a unanimous decision and remain undefeated.

Also on the main card, Muhammad Mokaev outworked Alex Perez for a decision win in a flyweight bout after Umar Nurmagomedov did the same against Bekzat Almakhan in a bantamweight bout.

In the main card opener, Ecreg connected a strong left hook to earn a second-round stoppage win over Matt Schnell in a flyweight bout moments after Eryk Anders dominated Jamie Pickett for the decision win in a middleweight bout that closed the preliminary card.
