UFC Vegas 95 Results: Serghei Spivac submits Marcin Tybura; Toshiomi Kazama bags $50K bonus with 1st Win

Serghei Spivac claimed retribution against Marcin Tybure with a first-round stoppage win in the heavyweight contenders main event of UFC Vegas 95: Tybura vs. Spivac 2 at the UFC Apex Facility in Las Vegas on Saturday (August 10).

The 10-fight card saw 3 fights, including the main event, end in stoppages, while seven fights went the distance. All the 3 stoppage wins were submission finishes as three fighters including main eventer Spivac earned performance bonuses.

Apart from Spivac, Toshiomi Kazama and Youssef Zalal took home an extra USD50K for his submission win on the main card, while there was no fight of the night awarded. Here is the recap for the UFC on ESPN 61 event:

In the main event, top ten heavyweights No. 8 ranked Tybura and No. 9 ranked Spivac ran it back in a rematch four years in the making. They engaged with striking immediately, then Spivac got the takedown, set up an armbar, and quickly got the tap to revenge his earlier loss to Tybura.

Following the win, Spivac said, "I trained this move a lot, but I was nervous, because for the past three weeks I wasn't able to train because of an injury. Since our last fight, I've gotten much better. This is my time now. I want anybody above me in the rankings."

In the co-main event, a frantic pace and grueling clinch work made for an exciting back and forth match between Damon Jackson and Chepe Mariscal. As the rounds progressed, Jackson began to tire, leaving Mariscal the opportunity to gain positions and land violent ground and pound.

Earning the dominant unanimous decision, Mariscal said, "What's crazy is that outside of the cage, I'm a different person. In the cage, I'm a reckless dynamite. I wanted less of a grappling match and more of a striking battle, but I came out here and put on a show."

Also on the main card, Toshiomi Kazama, ROAD TO UFC Season 1 bantamweight finalist, out-grappled Charalampos Grigoriou in dominant fashion in the first round, got knocked down and elbowed on the ground in the second, then capitalized on the position to slap on a triangle for the submission win.

After the huge comeback victory, Kazama said, "When I was on the bottom, I knew there was an opportunity to come back, so I was just waiting for that chance. I was able to use my jiu jitsu to tip the scale, so that was great. Everyday I thought, 'I want to win, I want to win'. I got the win now."

Vietnam's undefeated Quang Le made his UFC debut on short notice against the kicking master Chris Gutierrez, and was on the receiving end of repetitive calf kicks that kept him at bay.

Le had strong moments with grappling and striking, but Gutierrez had experience on his side and won by decision via two out of three rounds after Yana Santos outworked Chelsea Chandler. Plus, Danny Barlow edged Nikolay Veretennikov on the main card.

Earlier in the prelims, Youssef Zalal forced Jarno Errens to tap out, while Stephanie Luciano, Karol Rosa and Jhonata Diniz earned decision wins in their respective bouts. Here is a look at the final results of UFC Fight Night, which took place on August 10:
