Ukraine's Lisogor wins 50m breaststroke title
MELBOURNE, Mar 28 (Reuters) Oleg Lisogor broke a six-year drought to win the men's 50 metres breaststroke final at the world swimming championships today.
The 28-year-old Ukrainian stormed to gold in 27.66 seconds to claim his second world title, six years after his first in Fukuoka,Japan.
American Brendan Hansen, the world record holder and reigning world champion for 100 and 200 breaststroke, finished second in 27.69 after going into the final as the fastest qualifier.
South African Cameron van der Burgh came third in 27.88 swimming from the outside lane.
Lisogor set the world record for 50 breaststroke (27.18) at the European championships in Berlin in 2002 but had not won a world or Olympic title since Fukuoka.
