Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT), India's premier table tennis league, is set to launch its new season in Chennai from August 22 to September 7. The event will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium.
The league, promoted by Niraj Bajaj and Vita Dani under the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), has been pivotal for Indian table tennis since 2017. It will feature an eight-team format for the first time. This expansion aims to enhance competition and nurture emerging talent.

"The introduction of additional teams will infuse a heightened level of competition," said Niraj Bajaj. Hosting the league in Chennai honours the city's rich sporting heritage and its legendary paddlers, he added.
The growing popularity of table tennis in India has spurred the league's expansion. New franchises, Ahmedabad SG Pipers and Jaipur Patriots, will join the 2024 edition. This marks a significant step for UTT.
"The core mission behind UTT's inception was to elevate the stature of table tennis in India," stated Vita Dani. She highlighted recent victories by Indian players against Chinese opponents and the national teams' Olympic qualification as key milestones.
Goa Challengers, the defending champions, will join Dabang Delhi TTC, U Mumba TT, Puneri Paltan, and Bengaluru Smashers in the upcoming season. Each team will have six players, including two foreign players.
The league format has been altered to accommodate eight teams, divided into two groups of four. Each team will play five ties during the league stage, facing all teams within their group and two randomly selected teams from the other group.
This structure aims to provide a balanced and competitive environment for all participants, ensuring the highest level of play throughout the league.
