'Uninspiring' Intikhab not right person to coach Pakistan: Qasim Omar

Lahore, Jan 11(ANI): Strongly condemning Pakistan's 36-run defeat at the hands of Australia in the Sydney Test, former batsman Qasim Omar has held coach Intikhab Alam and his support staff responsible for the poor show.

Omar said that the struggling team presently requires a motivating figure to guide them.

"He is not the right person to be the coach of the national team. I remember when I played under him. When he was manager and coach, he always used to run me down and call my selection a waste of money," The Daily Times quoted Omar, as saying.

"The support staff has nothing to contribute or offer to the players who have no proper guidance at all," he added.

Omar also lashed out at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), saying that the board was equally responsible for the national team's shoddy state.

"The board is now just used as an institution to provide jobs to undeserving and incompetent persons. To my mind, contrary to what people say, the present Pakistan team lacks talent and our national cricketers are also short on skills," Omar said.

"This can only be rectified when the domestic structure is revised and improved," he added. (ANI)
