Union Academy Delhi, I P School Bhopal chalk out easy wins

New Delhi, Nov 5 (UNI) Former champion and local challenger Union Academy and Bhopal's Indira Priyadarshini (I P) School chalked out facile wins over their rivals in the 36th Nehru Junior hockey Tournament here today.

Union Academy routed NCC Directorate (North East) 5-1, while Indira Priyadarshani(I.P) Bhopal thrashed Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai (Haryana) 8-0.

Union Academy who led 3-1 at the half time should have scored more goals but their forwards missed chances galore.

For the winners Neeraj Yadav (two), Sandeep, Seraj Ahmed and Amit Kumar (one each) were the goal getters. H Premjit Singh reduced the margin for the losers.

In the other fixture of the day, the Bhopal team after leading 1-0 at lemon break came alive in the second half in which they pumped in seven goals to complete Rai School's rout.

Affan Yousaf (three), Faisal Khan, Amer Rehman, Wasim, Shakir Husain, Jeeshan Malik (one each) were the scorers for the winners.

Govt Sr School, Gurgaon scored a goal in each half to beat NCC Directorate (Orissa) 2-0 in the last match of the day. Pankaj and Sandeep Kumar chipped in with a goal each.
